About the Game
Kom aan boord ("All Aboard") is a serious game developed by Goudvisie in co-creation with Participatiekracht and TwynstraGudde, designed for professionals who work on societal challenges that require active stakeholder and community involvement. The game makes the complexity of participation processes tangible and learnable in a playful, low-threshold setting, for groups of 4 to 12 players.
The game comes in two distinct variants tailored to different levels of experience. The first, *Verkenning* (Exploration), is aimed at those who do not work with participation on a daily basis — such as administrative principals, communication advisors, or HR professionals. It creates awareness and opens conversation around what participation actually demands from an organisation, using recognisable dilemmas and shared reflection. The second, *Doorgronden* (In-Depth), is designed for experienced project leaders and teams who work with stakeholder environments regularly. It is structured around 16 concrete rules of thumb for effective participation, allowing players to explore patterns that either strengthen or undermine participatory processes.
A notable recent addition is an extension set specifically designed for municipal councils, enabling the game to be used in information sessions about the role of elected representatives in participation processes — including the grey areas and limitations of their influence.
The game can be played fully independently using the included manual and instructional videos, or with optional facilitation ranging from a train-the-trainer session to full guidance by a Goudvisie adviser.
